Napoli Sporting Director, Giovanni Manna admitted that they were originally reluctant to let Victor Osimhen leave the club on loan.
The player was on the verge of moving to Chelsea on transfer deadline day, but the deal fell through.
Instead, the 25-year-old signed a season-long loan with Galatasaray in the Turkish Super Lig a few days later.
Manna explained that Napoli had to agree to the loan offer for him.
“At the beginning, we were not open to the loan, something that had also been discussed with other teams but then Galatasaray came forward when the market was closed in Italy and we found a solution that was right for everyone. Obviously, we would have liked to sell Osimhen,” Manna told Radio CRC via GOAL.
Osimhen made his debut for Galatasaray against Caykur Rizespor last Saturday and is set to play against Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce this Saturday for his second appearance.”
