Electricity Restored in Four Northern States After Prolonged Blackout

Tinubu’s minister explains why the national electricity grid will continue to collapse

Electricity has been restored to four states under the Jos Electricity Distribution franchise: Plateau, Bauchi, Gombe, and Benue. Following a 10-day outage, electricity has been restored to four northern states.

The power was restored around 7:20 p.m. on Wednesday. Our correspondent tells that when light was restored in Jos, Plateau’s capital, citizens burst in jubilation, according to Daily Trust on Wednesday, October 30.

This came after the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, stated that electricity would be restored to the 17 northern states within five days.

Remember that the northern section of the country experienced blackouts due to the vandalism of the Shiroro-Kaduna transmission line, the main line that delivered electricity to the north.

Also, several northern states have been plunged into darkness following the tripping of the 330kV transmission line between Benue and Enugu states.

Consequently, residents of the affected states lamented the severe impact of the blackout on their daily lives and businesses.

However, Adelabi assured that the transmission line would be repaired within three to five days because President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had ordered the National Security Adviser (NSA) and the security operatives to provide security for those who are to fix it.
