Former head coach of FC Barcelona, Xavi Hernandez, is now emerging as a prospective candidate for Manchester United should the club opt to terminate the employment of manager Erik ten Hag.
As reported by Mail Sport, intermediaries representing United have initiated communication with Xavi on two separate occasions over the preceding months.
It has been disclosed that a four-member delegation, headed by chief executive Omar Berrada, traveled to Spain on the previous Thursday.
However, sources within United assert that a series of high-level discussions have recently transpired in Barcelona, as co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been present to provide support for the Ineos Britannia sailing team in their competition against New Zealand for the America’s Cup.
Moreover, this situation has intensified speculation regarding his potential candidacy should Ten Hag be dismissed after two and a half years in his current role.
Xavi has also explicitly articulated his desire to refrain from coaching within Spain once more.
