The Confederation of African Football, CAF, is set to make a decision regarding the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying Group D match between Libya and Nigeria, which was supposed to take place at Benina Martyrs Stadium on October 15.
The announcement is expected to be made this Wednesday.
According to reports from Libya Al-Ahrar Channel, CAF will address the issues surrounding the first leg match in Nigeria, which ended with a 1-0 victory for the Super Eagles, as well as the cancelled return fixture.
The Libyan Football Federation, LFF, has already provided all necessary documentation to CAF for review.
Nigeria’s delegation encountered difficulties when their flight was diverted to Al Abraq Airport, located three hours away from the original venue in Benghazi.
They were reportedly held captive for 17 hours without access to basic necessities before returning to Nigeria.
The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, filed a complaint with CAF regarding the incident, however, the Libyan Federation disputed the claims and stated that the Nigerian delegation did not cooperate.
