On Monday, Juventus acknowledged that one of their social media accounts had been hacked after mistakenly announcing the signing of Real Madrid player Arda Guler.
Both Juventus and Real Madrid supporters were surprised by the news, as the Serie A club’s English X account wrongly confirmed the transfer of the Turkish international on Monday afternoon.
“Welcome to Juventus, Arda Guler! The rising star of football is now part of the Juventus family,” the post read, featuring a picture of Guler walking on a runway.
Juventus acted swiftly to disprove the rumors, explaining that their account had been compromised and advising fans to disregard the inaccurate information.
“Our Juventus English account has been compromised,” Juventus said.
“Please ignore the false information being published on this account. We are working on the issue.”
Guler joined Real Madrid from Turkish club Fenerbahce last in 2023.
