Juventus Team Bus Pelted with Rocks Ahead of Napoli Clash

Juventus

Juventus’ team bus came under attack on Sunday when it was pelted with rocks shortly before entering the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona for a high-stakes Serie A showdown against Napoli.

The tension-filled incident occurred as Luciano Spalletti made his highly anticipated return to Naples—his first in more than two years—now as Juventus manager.

Spalletti, who coached Napoli from 2021 to 2023, famously led the club to their first Serie A title in 33 years during the 2022–23 season. Despite the historic triumph, he parted ways with the club that summer. After a two-year stint managing Italy’s national team, the 66-year-old returned to club football this season, taking charge of Juventus in October following their poor start to the campaign.

Fully aware of how intimidating Napoli’s ultras can be—having lived through firecracker raids and sleep-disrupting tactics during his time as manager—Spalletti took precautions ahead of the match. He avoided arriving in Naples until matchday and booked accommodations near the home of Napoli coach Antonio Conte in an attempt to prevent any overnight disturbances.

However, the measures did little to shield him or his squad from hostility. According to DAZN Italia, the Juventus team bus was struck with stones while en route to the stadium. Several windows were shattered, though no players or staff were injured.

The fiery welcome set the tone for what was already a crucial fixture between the reigning champions and a Juventus side desperate to revive their season under Spalletti.
