The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has strongly warned former militant leader Asari Dokubo to face the military on the battlefield if he believes he can shoot down helicopters.
Dokubo claimed in a viral video that helicopters were hovering over his residence for an extended period, which he saw as provocation from various government sources.
Asari Dokubo issued a bold warning, saying, “I will shoot down the helicopter. I swear by Allah that I will shoot down the helicopter,” while emphasizing that if such an event happened, he should not be blamed.
Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, responded by challenging Dokubo to prove his abilities in combat against the military.
Buba deemed Dokubo’s claims as “laughable” and assured that the military operates professionally within a democratic system, but would not hesitate to engage him if necessary.
“The idea that he can shoot down military helicopters is laughable,” Buba said. “We are professionals and cannot act based on comments without proper investigation. Other security agencies will handle this matter. But we will take him out if he comes to the battlefield.”
