“Only a few Afrobeat artists are making money at the moment” – Paulo Okoye

Iyabo Ojo’s partner Paulo Okoye threatens to end friendship with Davido, Cubana Chief Priest over VeryDarkMan

Talent manager Paulo Okoye has raised alarms about the declining state of Afrobeats, noting that the genre has seen better days.

He pointed out that compared to three years ago, most artists are struggling financially, with only a handful making a decent income.

Paulo Okoye stressed that this is not just his opinion but a painfully evident reality. He mentioned that he can hardly name a few Afrobeats artists who are truly prospering in terms of finances.

Furthermore, he highlighted that this downfall is not only impacting the genre’s global expansion but also its local presence, as financial prospects are becoming increasingly scarce.

He wrote:

“Afrobeats is going through a lot lately!! Every Afrobeat artist was doing way better 3 years ago compared to today!!

Only a few are making money at the moment, and that’s a fact!!

I can count on my one hand the Afrobeat artists who are making money Now!!

Globally things are falling apart for Afrobeats.

Locally, it’s even worse: no money anywhere.

Our bright stars will continue to shine and the world will continue to recognize our greatness.

Afrobeat is going through a lot lately”.
