A viral video circulating on social media shows a group of Ministry of Women Affairs employees rejoicing on Wednesday evening after Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye’s resignation as minister in President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet.
The footage captures the employees’ jubilant reactions, indicating a collective sense of relief or satisfaction regarding the leadership change.
This celebration raises questions about the ministry’s internal dynamics and reflects the staff’s sentiments toward Kennedy-Ohanenye’s tenure.
In the video shared on X by Abubakar Sidiq Usman, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, the workers could be seen dancing and shouting in their office corridors.
Chants of “finally” could be heard as they celebrated the minister’s exit.
Kennedy-Ohanenye oversaw the ministry until President Tinubu removed her on Wednesday as part of a cabinet reshuffle.
She was among five ministers sacked during the Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting.
Others are Lola Ade-John, Minister of Tourism; Jamila Bio Ibrahim, Minister of Youth Development; Tahir Mamman, Minister of Education; and Abdullahi Muhammad Gwarzo, Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development.
