Nigerian singer Fireboy DML praised his fellow artist and record label mate Asake, commending his talent and energy.
During an interview with Ebro, Fireboy revealed that Asake recorded his verse on their hit song ‘Bandana’ in a tour bus in 2022.
Fireboy attributed their seamless collaboration on the song to their longstanding working relationship, which began during their time as undergraduates at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife.
“Our record label [YBNL] boss, Olamide, advised me to feature Asake on ‘Bandana.’ We sent it to him. He recorded that song on his tour bus. It was quick. The energy was insane,” he said.
“Asake is someone I’ve known since way back. We went to the same university. He has a very crazy personality.
“He’s a born star. We had that synergy from way back in school. We had similar struggles. We went through almost the same journey,” he added.
