Barcelona has identified Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak as a major transfer target for next summer, which could jeopardize Arsenal’s pursuit of the Swedish striker.
After realizing their prospects of signing Sporting Lisbon forward Viktor Gyökeres were poor, the Catalan club turned to Isak.
Gyökeres is thought to desire a Premier League move, with Manchester United emerging as a potential destination given his relationship with former Sporting manager Ruben Amorim.
Isak, who has been in stellar form for Newcastle, has also attracted significant interest from Arsenal. Manager Mikel Arteta views him as a key figure for the club’s future ambitions.
However, Barcelona’s interest and financial muscle could complicate Arsenal’s plans.
