Diddy’s lawyers propose house arrest at New York apartment

Miami Beach Officials Move to Revoke Diddy's Key to the City

Diddy’s lawyers have proposed the option of house arrest at an upscale Upper East Side residence.

This suggestion follows a judge’s denial of the rapper’s plea to be transferred from incarceration to his luxurious Star Island estate.

The most recent proposition, submitted by his legal team to the court on Friday, recommends that he be granted bail to reside under house arrest in a New York apartment, complete with round-the-clock surveillance.

The hip hop mogul’s attorneys presented this request as part of his third endeavor to secure freedom while he awaits trial on allegations of sex trafficking and racketeering.

They indicated that he would have two live-in security personnel at the three-bedroom residence, with no access to telecommunication devices or the Internet, in addition to a third security guard stationed on the premises.

Describing the conditions as a “very, very rigorous set of conditions,” Diddy’s attorney Marc Agnifilo asserted that these stipulations were, in fact, more stringent than those enforced at the austere Metropolitan Detention Centre in Brooklyn, where he is currently confined.

At the federal court in New York, Judge Arun Subramanian indicated that he would determine whether to grant Diddy’s release next week.

However, he dismissed the proposal for Diddy to be placed under house arrest at his $48.5 million (£38.7 million) mansion on Star Island in Florida, stating: “That’s not going to work.”

During the two-hour hearing, prosecutor Christy Slavik argued that if Diddy were permitted to exit under a multi-million dollar bail arrangement, it would effectively equate to him “paying his way out of custody.”
