DSS releases PDP’s Ladi Adebutu from custody

DSS arrests PDP ex-guber candidate, Ladi Adebutu

Ladi Adebutu, the former governorship candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, has been released from Department of State Services (DSS) custody.

His media aide, Afolabi Orekoya, confirmed his release to Channels Television early on Tuesday.

Adebutu’s arrest had been initially confirmed by Kayode Adebayo, the PDP Publicity Secretary in Ogun State, on Monday.

Adebayo stated that he was brought in for questioning regarding alleged disturbances during the local government elections that took place on November 16, 2024, where the All Progressives Congress (APC) claimed victory in all seats.

Accusations against Adebutu included deploying illegal police officers to incite violence during the elections in the Iperu area of the state.

He had previously been the PDP’s governorship candidate in 2023.
