Galatasaray will make a £42 million approach for Victor Osimhen in January, looking to make his loan move from Napoli permanent.
After being linked with a move away from the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona during the summer, Osimhen joined the Turkish club on a season-long loan in September.
Since then, the 25-year-old has had a successful start to life in the Super Lig, scoring four goals in as many games and contributing two assists.
As a result, Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk is desperate to sign Osimhen permanently, although money remains a major obstacle.
Napoli are said to have agreed to a £63m release clause should a club from outside Serie A be interested.
However, according to Turkish outlet Sozcu, while Galatasaray is unable to meet that fee, they will still consider a bid from Osimhen once the January window opens.
The report claims that Galatasaray is prepared to offer a club-record £42m with the help of a sponsor in a bid to beat out interest from the likes of Chelsea and PSG.
Should the deal be completed, it would smash the club’s current record transfer expenditure for a single player, more than doubling the £15m they paid Norwich this summer to sign Brazilian midfielder Gabriel Sara.
The reports come just one month after Osimhen boldly declared his transfer value and stated that few players in world football possess the quality he possesses.
‘I am worth over 100 million euros.’ Osimhen told TMW.
‘There are few players in the world like me who have achieved such style and success. It all relates to my characteristics, what I do, and my quality. Therefore, I believe I deserve it.
‘I am aware of my contribution and what I can achieve, even in my private life. Do people think differently? Some say 15 million, others 100-120-150….. Everyone has their own opinion.’
