Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have arrested Nigerian artist, Darlington Okoye, widely recognized as Speed Darlington, just two months subsequent to his release.
Recall that the artist, also referred to as Akpi, was taken into custody on October 4, following the dissemination of a controversial video in which he purportedly ridiculed his fellow artist, Burna Boy, regarding his affiliation with American rapper Diddy, who has been embroiled in legal challenges with the FBI concerning allegations of sexual exploitation.
The outspoken Nigerian artist, however, was released on bail on October 9 after spending five days in custody.
His legal representative, Deji Adeyanju, announced the recent arrest on Wednesday through a post on his official Facebook page.
He stated, “Our client Speed Darlington, a.k.a AKPI has been apprehended by the Nigerian police in Owerri at his performance upon returning to Nigeria.”
Attempts to contact the NPF regarding the situation were unsuccessful, as the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, did not respond to his calls.
