Despite his impressive recent success, Sporting Lisbon attacker Viktor Gyokeres has dismissed suggestions of a January departure.
The Swedish forward, who has 28 goals and seven assists in 23 club and international games, is allegedly a target for numerous Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal.
Gyokeres said Fotbollskanalen, “It’s not something I think about or give any importance to.”
“It’s all rumours, nothing concrete. Of course, I want to finish the season with Sporting. I am enjoying my stay there.”
Gyokeres also addressed speculation about a reunion with Ruben Amorim at Manchester United, following Amorim’s recent departure from Sporting:
“It’s very sad that he left, but of course, we understand the decision. He probably already has strikers there.”
Despite these comments, Gyokeres’ release clause, reportedly set at £63 million, makes him an attractive option for top clubs seeking a prolific striker.
His recent Champions League hat-trick in Sporting’s 4-1 win over Manchester City, further makes him a most sort after player for clubs.
The 25-year-old has a history in English football, having previously played for Coventry City before joining Sporting Lisbon.
