Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, criticized well-known lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju for his remarks on recent demolitions in the nation’s capital.
Adeyanju had led a protest against the FCT Minister over the demolition of Ruga settlement along Airport Road, Abuja.
According to Deji Adeyanju, “there is no justification for this demolition”, asking President Bola Tinubu to urgently address the matter.
Wike, in an interview with journalists, stated that Adeyanju was simply idle and mentioned that he had previously declined the lawyer’s request to become the Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
He said, “I saw one young man, they call him Adeyanju. He is from Kogi State. This young boy came to me that he wants to be the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP and I said no.
“I said he won’t be, and he was not. I have no regret about it. He has suddenly become a civil society activist.
“He has no job and that’s why he decided to turn to a civil society activist”.
