The former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, along with two others, has been presented with 16 criminal charges in court by Justice Maryann Anenih.
The defendants have all pleaded not guilty to the charges, which include accusations of fraudulently converting N110 billion naira for personal gain.
Yahaya Bello, as the first defendant, strongly refuted the allegations as they were read aloud by the Court Registrar. The proceedings were leading up to the bail hearing at the time of the report.
It is worth mentioning that Umar Shoaib Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu had previously been granted administrative bail by the EFCC.
However, this was the former governor’s first appearance in court in relation to the charges.
