Backlash as Mohamed Salah Posts Christmas Picture Again

Mohamed Salah, a Liverpool winger, has come under fire from his Muslim admirers after posting a photo of himself and his family in front of a Christmas tree on Wednesday.

Salah, a Muslim, captioned the photo: ‘#MerryChristmas’.

This has become a tradition for the Egyptian celebrity, his wife Magi, and their daughters Makka and Kayan.

They pose in matching pyjamas for his Christmas post every year, beaming in front of their tree and a gingerbread man.

Muslims do not typically celebrate Christmas, however some participate in the celebrations surrounding the Christian holiday.

For @Maxajee, he was ready to take off Salah from his feed. He said: “As the alfa of my mosque, I shall be unfollowing you on all social media and turning the tv off when you’re playing football.”

In @AFCAMDEN’s opinion, the post confirmed a jinx. “Liverpool 1-2 Leicester confirmed after this post. Scousers are done out here,” he wrote.

@AdamsOmoboriowo had a simple advice for Salah. He tweeted: “Kuku become a Christian nah, since you no wan wise.”

But @Ay_teey was left confused. “I’m still confused.

“I understand that Christians that believe In Jesus are celebrating his birthday every year on the 25th of December.

“What i don’t understand is how a non-Christian (A Muslim believer who worships Allah and Allah alone) celebrates the Birth of Jesus, even though Islam Vehemently prohibits Muslims from such act.

“Someone needs to tell him he has the right to whichever faith he wants. Be a Christian if that is what you want @MoSalah but what you are doing as a Muslim is nothing short of HYPOCRISY.”

However, @RadioRed77 stated “I am an agnostic, I celebrate Christmas. Most of us, Christian/Muslim, are not religious fundamentalists and bigots. Many on both sides are but thankfully not all, I respect someone not celebrating a holiday for any reason. But to claim someone has to pick sides is ridiculous.”
