Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, expressed surprise at the Liverpool fans calling for his dismissal.
As the Reds were close to winning on Sunday, chants for Guardiola’s sack were heard at Anfield in the 89th minute.
“You’re getting sacked in the morning,” the supporters chorused.
He responded with a smile and held up one finger to remind everyone of the number of Premier League titles City have won under his leadership.
“I didn’t expect that at Anfield,” he told Sky Sports after the game.
“I didn’t expect it from the people from Liverpool but it’s fine, it’s part of the game, and I understand completely. We’ve had incredible battles together. I have a respect for them.”
