Two additional individuals have been indicted in relation to the untimely demise of the late One Direction vocalist Liam Payne, elevating the total number of those charged to five.
Prosecutors in Argentina have issued a comprehensive update regarding their inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death.
The report included grave new allegations pertaining to the events that occurred prior to Liam Payne’s fall from a third-floor balcony at the CasaSur hotel in Buenos Aires on 16 October.
The document asserted that Payne was in such a state of intoxication from alcohol and drugs in the hours preceding his death that he was rendered unconscious and incapable of ambulating.
The presiding judge ruled that Payne’s associate, Roger Nores, should be deemed “criminally responsible for the death,” as he “abandoned” the singer, “fully aware of the degree of intoxication, vulnerability, and helplessness in which he was situated.”
Nores is among those who have been charged with manslaughter.
Additionally, the hotel’s manager, Gilda Martin, and receptionist, Esteban Grassi, who prosecutors allege were present in the lobby when Payne returned to his lodgings on the day of his demise, have also been charged.
The judge asserted that both employees observed Payne “was unable to stand due to the ingestion of various substances.”
Prosecutors have further charged Ezequiel Pereyra, another hotel staff member, and Braian Paiz, a waiter, with offenses related to the supply of drugs.
Pereyra is alleged to have sold cocaine to Payne on 15 and 16 October, while Paiz is accused of similar actions on two occasions on 14 October.
The judge indicated that all five individuals failed to safeguard the pop star during his final moments.
This case will advance through Argentina’s judicial system. To date, none of the five individuals charged have entered a plea.
