Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want for Christmas’ Breaks Record with 18th Week at #1

While it’s evident that Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” will eventually become the most popular song in history, watching it become so is nothing short of amazing.

Carey’s ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ held the top spot on the Hot 100 for 18 weeks. Here are the numbers that drove the placement.

  • Streaming: 71.9 million U.S.-based streams
  • Sales: 8,000 digital downloads and physicals
  • Radio Airplay: 35.4 million audience impressions

Last week, ‘Christmas’ became the longest-running female-led #1 hit in the 66-year history of the Billboard Hot 100 when it notched a 17th week in the chart’s pole position.

Carey broke a tie with herself to achieve the feat, as 1996’s One Sweet Day had previously held the title.

With its 18th week atop the chart this week, however, ‘Christmas’ has helped Carey break another of her records as it’s the first song by a woman to rule over the Hot 100 as long.

Among all #1 hits, the only two to have reigned longer are Shaboozey‘s ‘Bar Song‘ and Lil Nas X‘s ‘Old Town Road‘ (19 weeks apiece).

As if the above isn’t enough to boast, MC now has 97 career weeks atop the Hot 100 thanks to her 19 #1s – more than any other artist ever.
