In the wake of Jay-Z’s sexual assault lawsuit, the NFL is strengthening its connection with his Roc Nation label.
According to reports, the mogul is facing charges that he r*ped a youngster in 2000 after an award event.
The MC has responded forcefully, calling the claims “extortion” and a “blackmail attempt” by Jane Doe’s Tony Buzbee.
Jay’s legal team has issued several rebuttals, including demanding that the accuser not proceed anonymously.
While some speculated about how the incident might affect the superstar’s numerous commercial ventures, including Roc Nation’s part in staging the Super Bowl Halftime Show, the NFL has issued an unambiguous statement stating that it will have no impact on their end.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said:
“We are aware of the civil allegations and Jay Z’s really strong response to that. We know obviously that litigation is happening. But from our standpoint our relationship is not changing with them, including our preparations for the next Super Bowl.”
He continued:
“I think they’re getting incredibly comfortable with not just the Super Bowl but other events that they have advised us on and helped us with. They’ve been helpful in the social justice area to us on many occasions. They’ve been great partners that have provided a lot of value to us.”
