Rap Queen Nicki Minaj continues getting dazzling Gold and Platinum awards from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), adding to her well-decorated crown!
The same day Nicki discovered she had received her third Diamond plaque from the RIAA for her 2012 hit ‘Starships’ surpassing the 10-million-sold mark, she was also noted in the organization’s files for breaking or tying other key marks.
As previously reported, Minaj not only tied Cardi B for most Diamond-certified singles among female rappers, but she also invaded the ‘Invasion of Privacy‘ hitmaker’s record for the highest-certified album of the century among females.
At the time of this report, Harajuku Barbie’s sophomore album, ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded,’ is 4x Platinum (for sales of 4 million), just like Privacy.
The overall record belongs to Lauryn Hill, whose 1998 debut solo album, Miseducation, has sold over 10 million copies.
Fellow award-winning rapstress Doja Cat ended October with good news that she had broken Nicki’s record for most Gold-certified singles among female rappers.
Not even a month later, Minaj has snatched the title back. She now has 26 songs certified as high, while Cat remains at 25.
Note: the RIAA does not include an artists’ featured hits in their respective career counts (unlike Billboard).
The latest slew of record-breaking achievements push Minaj’s cumulative sales to 65.5 million in the United States – making her the country’s best-selling female rapper of all time.
