U.S. President Donald Trump publicly praised rapper Nicki Minaj during a luncheon at the White House’s Rose Garden patio, calling the music star “so hot” and commending her talent and support.
The remarks came during a White House event on Monday, where Minaj was among the invited guests.
Addressing attendees, Trump spoke warmly about the rapper before briefly turning to politics.
He said:
“We also have a woman that is so respected and so hot and so great and such a great friend of, I don’t say conservative, I say of common sense.”
After making remarks about Democratic Socialists and communism, Trump returned to speaking about Minaj.
He continued:
“She’s a fantastic person and she’s a woman that’s respected by everybody, and she’s got real talent, Nicki Minaj. Nicki, stand up, please. Such a great person and respected by everybody.”
Following the event, Minaj posted several photos and videos from her visit to the White House on social media.
The images included:
* A photo of her with President Trump in the Oval Office.
* Pictures in front of Trump’s “Presidential Walk of Fame.”
* A photo beside an image of an autopen that Trump reportedly installed in place of a portrait of former President Joe Biden.
Captioning one of the posts, the rapper wrote:
“Whoa!!! #WhiteHouseBarbie with her favorite President of all time!!!”
Nicki Minaj has attracted political attention in recent years for comments that some have interpreted as identifying with elements of the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement.
Her appearance at the White House and public praise for Trump have provoked widespread online discussion, with advocates and opponents weighing in on the interaction.
