Nigerian comedian Bovi Ugboma has spoken out against the use of physical punishment as a form of discipline for children.
During a recent appearance on ‘The Honest Bunch’ podcast, Bovi reiterated his stance that no matter the wrongdoing, children should not be subjected to beatings.
“I don’t advocate for beating children. You should let children be. When you hit a kid, are you really trying to correct them or are you frustrated?” he said.
The comedian also criticised the practice of senior students punishing junior colleagues in primary and secondary schools.
“No child should be given authority over another child in the name of ‘senior student’. It really has to stop,” he declared.
