Earlier in the year, Usyk defeated Fury to become the undisputed heavyweight world champion, a title that had not been achieved in 25 years since Lennox Lewis.

In his pursuit of a rematch with Fury, Usyk had to relinquish the IBF title, which is now held by Daniel Dubois of Britain. However, Usyk still maintains his unified WBO, WBA, and WBC world heavyweight titles.
