Ruben Amorim, the manager of Manchester United, has confessed that his players are feeling “fearful” during matches as they prepare for their upcoming Premier League game against Liverpool on Sunday.
The team has suffered four consecutive losses, three of which were in the league and all without scoring a goal.
Amorim expressed that the current poor form has led to “anxiety” among his squad.
He said: “They [the players] are anxious, and sometimes afraid on the pitch,” Amorim said.
“We have to cope with that. We need the leaders to step up to help the other guys and I’m the most responsible person here to improve the performances.
“You can see the players are trying, sometimes too anxious, too afraid to play football because this is a difficult moment and we will help the players to be better.”
Amorim has lost six of his 11 fixtures in charge since he replaced Erik ten Hag in November.
It has left United sitting four places and seven points above the relegation zone.
