American rapper Meek Mill has expressed interest in purchasing TikTok amid the app facing a potential ban in the United States.
Following President Joe Biden’s enactment of a law in April 2024, TikTok’s Chinese owner was given a deadline of January 19 to either sell the platform or shut it down.
TikTok appealed the law at the US Supreme Court in December after CEO Shou Zi Chew met with President-elect Donald Trump. Trump had mentioned his “soft spot” for TikTok during a press conference, indicating his administration would contemplate the app’s future and the possibility of a ban.
As ByteDance awaits the Supreme Court’s ruling on the fate of TikTok, Meek Mill has announced his interest in acquiring the platform.
“Sell TikTok to me,” he wrote via X.
“If they cut off tik tok we going x and Fanbase.”
