Argentina has announced its intention to leave the World Health Organization (WHO) following in the footsteps of the United States after President Trump’s executive order last month.
President Javier Milei, who sees Trump as a close ally, made the decision to withdraw from the global health group due to disagreements over the organization’s management of health issues, including the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The presidential spokesperson cited concerns about the organization’s lack of independence from political influence and its response to international health crises.
Trump had previously criticized the organization for similar reasons, claiming it placed unfair financial burdens on the United States.
