President Donald Trump of the United States mentioned at a rally in Las Vegas that he might reconsider rejoining the World Health Organization (WHO).
This statement comes just days after he had ordered the U.S. to withdraw from the global health agency due to what he perceived as mishandling of the COVID-19 pandemic and other health crises.
“Maybe we would consider doing it again, I don’t know. Maybe we would. They would have to clean it up,” he said.
Following Trump’s directive, the United States is set to depart from the WHO on January 22, 2026. The decision was announced by Trump after his second term inauguration at the White House. The U.S. is a significant financial supporter of the WHO, providing approximately 18% of its total funding.
During the rally in Las Vegas, the President expressed displeasure that the U.S. contributed more funds to the WHO than China, despite China having a larger population.
