Drake has denied DJ Khaled’s statement about two collaborations with him on his upcoming album, Aalam of God.
DJ Khaled had shared a trailer for the project on Tuesday, featuring mentions of the Drake collaborations, as well as potential appearances by Jay-Z and Rihanna. The post has since been deleted.
In the caption, Khaled had confirmed the collaborations. “This not my last album this my black album JAY VOICE […] DRAKES BACK TO WORK… SO AM I! THIS THE ONE WITH DRAKE’s” he wrote. “@ayojuan matter of fact..send that record over to @badgalriri .. u know…I JUST WANNA BREATHE – THE AIR THAT RIHANNA BREATHES – yo RIH everyTING locked.” Commenting on the announcement on Instagram, Drake joked: “Must be @drakebell.”
It remains unclear how the misunderstanding occurred or if they’re on good terms.
Their partnership has continued through songs like “For Free” in 2016 and “POPSTAR” in 2020. In a previous interview, Khaled shared insights into his strong working bond with Drake.
Khaled described Drake as more of a brother than a friend at the time. “Our friendship is true brotherhood. We relate to each other in so many ways. We inspire each other, both of us. I tell him he inspires me. He has no problem telling me I inspire him. We brothers, and not just him. His whole family, his crew, I consider them my team,” he said. “He is such a beautiful man, such a talented person, but also he is one of a kind. There’s no way there’s another Drake out there. It’s impossible. It’s just impossible. The same way there’s not another Khaled out there.”
