Drake has once again made headlines, this time for what seems to be a subtle jab at Spotify.
The rapper recently liked a post by hip-hop commentator Akademiks, which claimed that his new album, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U with PARTYNEXTDOOR, is not showing up properly when searched on the streaming platform.
Akademiks pointed out that when users search for Kendrick Lamar, his project GNX appears as expected. However, when searching for Drake’s latest release, SSS 4 U doesn’t show up, raising suspicions that Spotify might be suppressing the album’s visibility.
The rapper’s decision to like the post has only fueled speculation that he believes the platform is intentionally limiting his reach.
This controversy follows Drake’s legal battle with Universal Music Group and Spotify, in which he initially accused them of unfair practices before later dropping Spotify from the lawsuit.
While he hasn’t made any direct statements about the situation, his engagement with the post suggests he may share his fans’ concerns.
Despite the alleged suppression, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U continues to perform exceptionally well. The album recently set a new record on Apple Music, becoming the biggest R&B/Soul album debut in the platform’s history with record-breaking first-day streams.
For now, it remains to be seen whether Drake will address the Spotify situation directly, but one thing is clear—his music continues to dominate the charts, with or without the full support of streaming platforms.
