The Federal Government and leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) are gearing up for a meeting to address the union’s planned protest against the increase in telecom tariffs.
The protest, planned for February 4th, is in response to a 50 per cent hike in telecommunications rates.
The meeting will also address the NLC’s concerns over the N8 billion budget allocation for electricity bill sensitization, which the labor movement has criticized as extravagant and corrupt.
Scheduled to take place at 5 pm, the meeting will be hosted by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and will involve various government ministries.
The goal is to resolve issues raised by the NLC and its allies regarding the government’s recent tariff adjustments.
