At the 67th annual Grammy Awards, Sean Carter, also known as Jay-Z, made history by becoming the most-awarded rapper in Grammy history with a total of 25 wins.
This surpasses Kanye West’s previous record of 24 wins.
Jay-Z’s latest win came for his contribution to Beyoncé’s album, ‘Cowboy Carter’, which won Album of the Year.
Grammy rules dictate that all major contributors to an album receive credit for the win in this category. This victory also marked Beyoncé’s first-ever win for Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards.
The rapper had previously criticized the Recording Academy for its judgment, noting that despite Beyoncé’s numerous wins in the past, she had never won in the Album of the Year category.
