Mocheddah, the former rapper also known as Modupe-Oreoluwa Oyeyemi Ola, recently shared nostalgic memories of her early days in the Nigerian music scene on the TeamwithTaypod podcast.
She fondly remembered frequenting studios with Wizkid before they both achieved stardom.
At just 14 years old, Mocheddah started visiting music studios where she would accompany Wizkid to recording sessions in Ojuelegba. She recalled working alongside notable Nigerian artists like Ice Prince and learning from industry veterans like the late OJB Jezreel.
Despite her parents’ initial concerns about her musical ambitions, particularly her mother’s hesitations, Mocheddah’s passion for music ultimately prevailed. Her mother became a strong supporter, ensuring that Mocheddah followed strict guidelines while chasing her dream in the studio.
In her words:
“I became a studio rat at 14. Wizkid and I would go to studios in Ojuelegba together. We’d watch and learn from veteran musicians and producers. My mom would take me to studios and I had a curfew. Later, I became friends with Wizkid and Ice Prince, and we’d go to studios together. We didn’t record, we just watched and got inspired.”
