Moses Simon is reportedly in the process of seeking French citizenship.
According to information disseminated by Foot Boom, the Nigerian international Moses Simon is actively pursuing the acquisition of French citizenship.
Nonetheless, notwithstanding this progression, the winger from Nantes remains ineligible to compete for France at the international stage.
At 29 years of age, Simon has resided in France for nearly six years following his transfer to Nantes from the Spanish club CD Leganés in 2019—first on a loan agreement and subsequently securing a permanent contract.
His extended residence in the nation renders him eligible for naturalization, and should his application be successful, he will possess both Nigerian and French passports.
Nevertheless, the regulations imposed by FIFA inhibit him from altering his national allegiance.
Moses Simon has been bound to Nigeria since his inaugural competitive appearance for the Super Eagles, rendering any prospective transition to Les Bleus unfeasible.
Since his arrival at Nantes,Moses Simon has established himself as a pivotal figure for the Canaries, having made 189 appearances across all competitive fixtures, netting 34 goals, and providing 39 assists.
He has recently marked a significant personal milestone with the birth of his first son, thereby expanding his familial unit.
Moses Simon will join a cohort of other Super Eagles players possessing dual nationality, which includes Alex Iwobi, William Troost-Ekong, and Ademola Lookman.
However, akin to these players, his international prospects remain exclusively aligned with Nigeria.
