Former Senate President Bukola Saraki has intervened in the ongoing dispute between Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, urging all parties involved to uphold the integrity of the Senate.

In a statement shared via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Saturday, Saraki expressed concern over the controversy and stressed the need to prioritize the institution of the Senate over individual interests.

He stated:

“I have watched from afar the recent developments in the Senate involving the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and the Senator from Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. This situation saddens me because of its negative impact on the integrity, sanctity, image, and public perception of the institution.”

Saraki urged both lawmakers and their supporters to be mindful of their words and actions, ensuring that the dispute does not tarnish the reputation of the National Assembly. He stressed the importance of resolving the matter within the framework of the Nigerian Constitution, Senate rules, and established parliamentary conventions.

The former Senate President’s statement comes as tensions escalate in the Red Chamber, sparking widespread debate on governance, legislative conduct, and political rivalries within the Senate.
