Rapper Doechii has been crowned Billboard’s 2025 Woman of the Year, marking yet another milestone in her meteoric rise to fame. The prestigious honor will be presented at an event later this month, Billboard announced on Monday.
A Fast-Rising Star in Rap
Despite being a newcomer, Doechii has taken the rap scene by storm, thanks to viral hits like “No Scrubs” and “Denial is a River”, the latter peaking at No. 21 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Her dominance in the industry was further cemented in January 2025, when she won her first Grammy for Best Rap Album with her critically acclaimed project, “Alligator Bites Never Heal.” This victory made her only the third woman in history to claim the coveted award in that category.
A Night to Remember at the Grammys
Doechii not only took home a Grammy but also made waves with her electrifying performance at the award show. She performed a mash-up of “Denial is a River” and “Catfish”, leaving audiences in awe. She had also been nominated for Best New Artist and Best Rap Performance, solidifying her status as a force to be reckoned with.
Billboard’s Recognition and Industry Impact
With five Billboard Hot 100 entries, including collaborations like “Balloon” with Tyler, the Creator and “ExtraL” with Jennie, Doechii has proven her versatility and staying power.
Billboard’s Editor-in-Chief Hannah Karp praised the rapper for her “ultra-candid lyrics and utterly unique sound, style, and spirit.”
Doechii’s latest honor places her among music royalty, joining past Billboard Women of the Year like SZA, Billie Eilish, Madonna, and Taylor Swift.
