When an artist’s profile rises quickly, their name can sometimes be misused in ways beyond their control. Doechii is now at the center of such a situation after a booking agent allegedly attempted to scam an event firm by pretending to secure her for a major festival.
As per reports, Atlanta-based Blackout Management LLC filed a lawsuit against New Jersey agent Christopher Young. The firm claims they wired a $187,500 deposit to Young in December 2024, believing he was booking Doechii, along with her Top Dawg Entertainment labelmate SiR, for the AFRAM Festival in Baltimore.
According to the complaint, Young allegedly told Blackout he had direct access to the artists through his TDE connections. However, in March, he informed the firm that both Doechii and SiR were unavailable due to touring obligations.
After months of delays and evasions, Blackout reached out to TDE directly and allegedly discovered that Young had never secured Doechii at all and only briefly discussed SiR. The firm stated they never received contracts, paperwork, or promotional material, and that TDE never saw their deposit. Instead, they accuse Young and his Sacrifice Management LLC of keeping the funds.
When Blackout demanded a refund, Young allegedly promised to return the money on two occasions, but never followed through. These incidents reportedly occurred in May and July of this year. The company is now suing for at least $187,500 in damages, citing fraud, negligent misrepresentation, conversion, unjust enrichment, and other claims. They are also seeking coverage for legal fees, interest, and punitive damages.
As Doechii continues her “Live From The Swamp” tour, fans hope her shows remain unaffected by booking issues or fraudulent dealings. With her star still rising, attention now turns to whether new music teasers will transform into upcoming releases, free of any further controversies.
