Fresh FM Nigeria has confirmed that a fire broke out at its head office located at Challenge, Ibadan, on Friday night, leaving behind extensive damage to its broadcasting facilities.
In a statement signed by Samson Akindele, Group Head of Corporate Affairs for Fresh FM Nigeria and Yinka Ayefele Limited, the station revealed that the blaze affected critical sections of its operations, including the studios of Fresh 105.9 FM and Blast 98.3 FM.
The fire also spread to adjoining offices, damaging the newsroom, transmitter/server room, and other vital broadcasting equipment. According to the statement, staff initially tried to control the blaze with in-house fire extinguishers, but the intensity of the inferno quickly overwhelmed their efforts until professional firefighters arrived.
“We can’t immediately quantify the extent of the damage caused by the devastating inferno, the cause of which is also yet to be ascertained presently,” Akindele stated.
The management expressed gratitude to residents, passersby, and officials of the Oyo State Fire Service who rushed in to help contain the fire.
“We heartily appreciate everyone good-spirited Nigerians who joined us in fighting the inferno,” the station added.
As of press time, no casualties have been reported, while investigations into the cause of the fire at Fresh FM are ongoing.
