Europe plans peacekeeping mission for Ukraine as Putin aide makes World War3 threat

European nations are formulating strategies for the establishment of a peacekeeping force in Ukraine, with the United Kingdom committing to sustain a military presence for “as long as necessary.”

Furthermore, France has indicated its willingness to mobilize civilian resources amid escalating apprehensions regarding Russian hostilities, while the Kremlin has cautioned that any involvement from NATO would be interpreted as an act of war.

A proposed European-led peacekeeping initiative is intended to oversee the borders of Ukraine and ensure compliance by Russia with any forthcoming ceasefire arrangements. This initiative, spearheaded by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron, has been in the planning stages for several weeks. Nevertheless, former Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has denounced the initiative, alleging that Starmer and Macron have neglected prior advisories that peacekeeping personnel should not be sourced from NATO member states.

In a declaration disseminated via social media, Medvedev issued a severe admonition, stating, “That signifies war with NATO. Consult with Trump, scumbags.” His remarks coincide with preparations by military leaders from various nations to convene for an operational planning session in London, aimed at discussing post-conflict security in Europe.

Starmer, who has assumed a prominent role in galvanizing European backing for Ukraine, reiterated his dedication to the deployment of British forces, asserting that they will remain in Ukraine alongside their Western counterparts for as long as deemed necessary. Additionally, France has contemplated the mobilization of civilian volunteers to support defense activities; however, Macron has dismissed the notion of reinstating mandatory military service, citing logistical impediments.

Several additional nations, including Turkey, Canada, and Australia, are also evaluating their respective contributions, with projections indicating that as many as 30,000 troops may be deployed from NATO-affiliated military contingents. Furthermore, supplementary support is anticipated in the form of weaponry and logistical assistance.

Russia has consistently cautioned that any foreign military presence in Ukraine would exacerbate the conflict. Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko emphasized that any ceasefire agreement must explicitly exclude Ukraine’s NATO membership and forbid the deployment of foreign military personnel. Russian officials and state media representatives have also issued vehement threats towards Western nations, with propagandist Vladimir Solovyov proclaiming, “We will kill you all, and we will kill you all.”

Concurrently, diplomatic initiatives are underway, with former U.S. President Donald Trump scheduled to engage in a telephone conversation with Vladimir Putin to deliberate on a potential ceasefire. Trump has expressed optimism regarding his ability to convince the Russian leader to consent to a peace accord, although Putin has articulated “serious questions” concerning the proposed conditions.

Despite the ongoing dialogues, hostilities on the battlefield continue to escalate. Reports indicate that Russian forces have successfully expelled Ukrainian troops from a substantial portion of the Kursk region, representing a notable setback for Kyiv. The military leadership of Ukraine has acknowledged territorial concessions in this area, with reports confirming a withdrawal from Sudzha and adjacent villages.

In light of apprehensions regarding the trajectory of the conflict, Trump’s National Security Advisor Michael Waltz has proposed that Ukraine may ultimately be compelled to relinquish certain territories as part of a negotiated resolution in exchange for future security assurances.
