During an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Abdul-Azeez Adediran, also known as Jandor, the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate in the 2023 Lagos State governorship election, attributed his loss to the influence of Peter Obi.
He believed his campaign had been gaining significant momentum leading up to the February 25, 2023, elections, but a sudden shift in voter dynamics ultimately impacted the outcome.
“We did everything, but that wave came and swallowed the whole thing. Nobody saw that coming,” Jandor said.
When asked, “If not for Peter Obi’s influence in the presidential election, would you have won the governorship election?” He responded, “Absolutely, I probably would have won the election at the governorship election.”
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared incumbent Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu the winner with 762,134 votes, while the Labour Party’s Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour received 312,329 votes and Jandor garnered 62,449 votes.
