Why I left Real Madrid for Saudi Arabia – Benzema

Karim Benzema, the striker for Al Ittihad, discussed his choice to depart from Real Madrid for Saudi Arabia.

He made the move to the Middle East in 2023, stating that he wanted to exit the La Liga powerhouse while on a high note.

Additionally, Benzema confessed that he had no intention of facing Madrid as an opponent for the rest of his career.

He said: “My decision to go to Saudi Arabia was also because I wanted to leave Real Madrid on top.

“And I didn’t want to ever play against Real Madrid in my life.”

During his time at the Bernabeu, Benzema won five Champions Leagues and four La Liga titles.

The 35-year-old also won the coveted Ballon d’Or award.
