Former Premier League footballer Joey Barton was convicted of assault by the Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday after attacking his wife, Georgia Barton, at their home in Kew, south-west London in June 2021.
The 42-year-old, who played for Manchester City and QPR, pushed his wife to the floor and kicked her in the head during a drunken row following an argument with her brother and father.
Joey Barton, who was the manager of Bristol Rovers at the time, will be sentenced at a later date.
