Kanye West has once again surprised fans by announcing the revival of the Sunday Service Choir, but with a twist.
In an Instagram post, the rapper stated that he is seeking new vocalists for the choir, but with a new requirement – all accepted members must shave their heads.
This unusual demand has raised concerns, especially considering Kanye West’s past affinity for control and controversial associations.
Auditions for the choir will take place on March 14th, welcoming all applicants, but only those willing to shave their heads will be considered for membership. This odd request may seem familiar to fans, as Kanye West previously wanted to enact a similar rule for his now-defunct schools named after his mother.
Trevor Phillips, a man who worked for the rapper’s Yeezy fashion line before serving as an employee at Donda Academy, filed a lawsuit in April 2024. He claimed that he faced “severe discrimination, harassment, and retaliation” by West during his time at the academy.
Furthermore, Phillips alleged that Kanye West had bizarre tactics in mind for the students who planned on attending. The former employee claimed that the rapper wanted shave students’ heads when they attended, in addition to locking them in cages.
Phillips believed these tactics stemmed from Ye and his interest in Adolf Hitler. “By filing this lawsuit, we hope our injured clients’ rights are vindicated, and that the famous artist Mr. West understands that his messages,” Phillips’ attorney wrote. .
