Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, the former Minister of Women Affairs, confirmed that she honored the invitation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to address financial issues from her time in office.
Following the N138 million fraud allegations, the EFCC interrogated Kennedy-Ohanenye on Thursday regarding the case that occurred during her tenure.
Providing updates on X on Friday, the ex-minister shared that she arrived at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja at 2:15pm and left at 6:50pm.
Kennedy-Ohanenye stated that she provided detailed explanations regarding her financial decisions while serving as a minister and commended the EFCC for their professionalism. She expressed willingness to provide any additional clarifications needed.
She also emphasized her efficient management of resources during her term, mentioning that she even used her personal funds when required.
“I arrived at the EFCC headquarters at 2:15pm, and the substantive discussions commenced at 2:50pm,” she wrote on X.
“During this time, I provided comprehensive clarifications regarding my actions as the minister of women affairs. I rounded up by 6:50pm and left thereafter.
“I commend the EFCC for their professionalism and hospitality, and I appreciate the opportunity to address the matters that have recently been circulating in the media.
“I remain fully committed to cooperating with the EFCC and will be available for any further inquiries. It is the duty of every government official to be transparent and accountable for their time in office.
“During my tenure, my team and I executed our duties diligently, utilizing available resources effectively, and even supplementing with personal funds, demonstrating our dedication to the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda for Nigerian women and children.”
Kennedy-Ohanenye was one of five ministers dismissed by President Bola Tinubu in October 2024.
