Former Minister for Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy Ohanenye, was interrogated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday for her suspected involvement in misappropriation, procurement process violations, and diversion of N138.4 million in public funds during the allocation of the ministry’s 2023 budget.
Kennedy Ohanenye arrived at the EFCC headquarters at 11 am on Thursday to answer questions about her alleged role in the fraud.
The EFCC’s investigation revealed that funds earmarked for the P-Bat Cares for Women Initiative were allegedly used for her personal gain.
Uju Kennedy Ohanenye was dismissed from her ministerial position by President Bola Tinubu in October 2024, after being appointed Minister of Women Affairs on August 21, 2023.
