Mourinho, Fenerbahce files lawsuit against Galatasaray over accusations of racism

Fenerbahce, a team in the Turkey Süper Lig, has taken legal action against their rival Galatasaray, claiming that their manager, Jose Mourinho, was the target of  violation of personal rights.

This accusation stems from allegations of racist comments made by Galatasaray after a recent match that ended in a 0-0 draw.

They claimed he had used “unequivocally inhumane rhetoric” after he said the opposition bench “jumping around like monkeys.”

Fenerbahce hit back, insisting the comments were “deliberately taken entirely out of context and distorted in a misleading manner.” On Friday, they decided to initiate legal action to recoup around $52,000 in damages.

“We would like to announce to the public that a lawsuit for moral damages of 1 million 907 thousand Turkish liras has been filed against Galatasaray Sports Club by Fenerbahçe Sports Club lawyers due to the attack on the personal rights of our Technical Director Jose Mourinho,” Fenerbahce said in a statement.

Jose Mourinho, who only recently moved to Fenerbahce from Roma, has had a turbulent season, including being fined and suspended for outbursts against local match officials and the league.
