South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster has declared a state of emergency as wildfires rage across the state, consuming over 4,200 acres and forcing mass evacuations.
The most severe blaze is in the Carolina Forest area near Myrtle Beach, where flames have scorched around 1,600 acres, prompting mandatory evacuations. Dry, windy conditions have fueled the fires, leading officials to impose a statewide burning ban to prevent further outbreaks.
Firefighters are working tirelessly to contain the inferno, with no reported injuries or major structural damage at this time. The emergency declaration enables additional resources to combat the wildfires and support affected communities.
